Julie Krogh received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1978 from Kansas State University . She has 10 hours of post-graduate work in animal nutrition. In 1983, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State . Currently, she is licensed in four states- Indiana , Illinois , Kansas and Nebraska .

In 1987, she began a program with registered therapy dogs at local hospitals and mental health facilities in Terre Haute , Indiana . Currently, seven groups are visited on a regular basis with all age groups represented and including people with emotional, physical, mental and developmental disabilities.

In 1997, she received the Hamilton Award for volunteerism in recognition of outstanding contributions to the cause of mental health and service to the developmentally disabled. In 2001, she served on the advisory board at Saint Mary of the Woods College for development of an occupational therapy program.

Currently, she has 2 dogs that have completed training in Animal Assisted Crisis Response. With these 2 dogs, she is a member of a Disaster Action Team with the Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Trauma Support Network.

She serves as medical advisor to AACR teams and is serving on the advisory board for Animal Assisted Crisis Response.
